Best CBSE Schools in Howrah (2026 Guide)

Howrah is not only the city across the river from Kolkata; the district stretches along the NH-6 and NH-16 corridors to Domjur, Alampur, Bankra, Bally and Uluberia, and many CBSE schools sit on that belt. This guide brings together eight CBSE schools selected from CBSE’s own affiliation records (SARAS) and cross-checked against each school’s official website. It is a selection, not a ranking, and it is not exhaustive: the order is not an order of merit, and we have not copied ratings or fee tables from other sites. Schools located inside Howrah city that we could not verify on two sources have been left out rather than guessed.

Last checked: 13 Oct 2026. The order below is not an order of merit. This is a selection, not a ranking.

Selected CBSE schools in Howrah: what each official source says

Asian International School

Asian International School describes itself as a CBSE English-medium school on National Highway 16 in Howrah, and SARAS lists it under affiliation number 2430166. Its site shows an admission enquiry for 2027-28 and a National School Award 2025 mention. The admission overview explains that application kits are collected from a site office at New Kolorah, after which the school conducts an interactive session for Nursery and LKG students and assessments for higher classes.

Admission note: The admission overview page on the site describes the kit-collection and form-submission steps. Follow it for the current session.

Darwin International School

The school’s About page states that Darwin International School was founded in 2017 and follows CBSE. SARAS lists it at Nischinda (Bally) under affiliation number 2430392. As one of the newer schools in the list, it suits families in the Bally and Belur side who want a CBSE option nearby. The site includes documents and mandatory-disclosure style pages.

Admission note: Check the Documents page and school notices for the current admission process; some news items on the home page are dated 2024, so confirm freshness with the school.

Delhi Public School, Howrah

DPS Howrah is on Amta Road at Domjur and describes itself on its home page as a CBSE-affiliated school; SARAS lists affiliation number 2430186. The site mentions new school bus routes planned from the 2027-28 session covering Bagnan, Uluberia, Panchla, Ranihati and Dhulagarh, which is useful for families living along that stretch.

Admission note: Bus-route and admission information is posted on the home page. Check the latest notice and confirm routes with the school.

PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Santragachi

This is a Kendriya Vidyalaya, run through the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The school’s website lists KV code 1274 and CBSE Affiliation No. 2400048, matching SARAS. Because it is a KV, admissions follow the Sangathan’s own process rather than a private school’s.

Admission note: Read the admission notices on the school’s KVS page; the process is run through the Sangathan’s system.

Podar International School, Howrah

Podar International School Howrah is part of the Podar Education Network. Its page on the Podar website is titled as a CBSE school in Howrah and lists a mandatory public disclosure link. SARAS lists it at Salap More, Bankra under affiliation number 2430427. The network says its schools run from Nursery to Grade 12, while the Howrah enquiry form lists grades from Nursery up to Grade X, so confirm the grades currently offered.

Admission note: The Podar website has an enquiry form with a grade selector and a brochure download. Use these for current availability.

Saini International School, Howrah

Saini International School states on its About page that it is affiliated to CBSE and offers classes from Nursery to XII. SARAS lists affiliation number 2430180 at Surikhali, between Panchla and Kalitala crossing in Uluberia. The site also mentions a campus playground and standard sports equipment.

Admission note: The home page shows “Admission Open” for session 2027-28 with a prospectus and mandatory disclosure page. Verify seats directly with the school.

South Point Institute

South Point Institute, Howrah calls itself a CBSE English-medium school at Udaynarayanpur and SARAS lists it under affiliation number 2430279. The site highlights preparation for olympiad-type competitions such as IOQM, IAPT and SOF. Note that it is a separate institution from other South Point-named schools, so read this school’s own site.

Admission note: The home page banner still referred to the 2026-27 session (Pre-nursery to Class IX and Class XI) when we checked, so confirm the 2027-28 position with the school.

St. XavierтАЩs High School, Howrah

St. Xavier’s High School in Howrah states on its home page that it is CBSE-affiliated up to Class XII, and SARAS lists affiliation number 2430298. The enquiry form on the site lists classes from Nursery to Class XI. It is not the same school as St. Xavier’s Collegiate in Kolkata.

Admission note: The site has an enquiry form and a mandatory disclosure link. Use them for current class-wise information.

How to choose a CBSE school in Howrah

Board fit. CBSE is the dominant board among the newer schools on the Howrah belt. If you are comparing boards, see our ICSE schools in Kolkata guide.

Distance and bus routes. Many of these schools are on highways and serve a wide catchment. Ask for the exact bus route and pick-up time before you decide.

Campus. Visit and look at classrooms, labs, playgrounds and safety arrangements.

Admission timing. Several schools were already showing 2027-28 notices on 13 Oct 2026, but dates vary by school and class.

Admission process basics

Typical steps are an enquiry or application form, an interaction for the youngest classes, and an assessment for higher classes, followed by document verification. Because dates, age cut-offs and seats change every session, treat the official admission pages as final.
