UP Scholarship (scholarship.up.gov.in): Apply & Status

The Uttar Pradesh government runs its scholarship and fee reimbursement scheme through scholarship.up.gov.in, covering students from Class 9 to postgraduate, diploma and ITI courses. You complete One Time Registration, fill in the student form, submit it to your institution, and after verification the amount goes to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account. Status can be checked on the same portal using your registration number.

Who is eligible?

  • Indian citizen and permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Studying at a recognised school, college or institute.
  • Family income within the limit for your category and scheme.
  • Passed the previous class or course.
  • Not receiving another scholarship for the same course.
  • Valid OTR and an active bank account in your own name.

Income limits and benefit amounts differ by category and stage. Sources I read disagreed with each other. For example, one lists Rs 2.5 lakh for SC and ST post-matric and Rs 2 lakh for others, and pre-matric figures vary between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh. The portal blocked automated access when I tried to read it, so please confirm limits and amounts in the current notice on scholarship.up.gov.in. Reported yearly amounts for pre-matric include Rs 3,500 for SC day scholars and Rs 7,000 for hostellers; treat these as indicative.

2026-27 dates

News reports and education sites I checked for the 2026-27 session mention these windows, but they were not fully consistent with each other and I could not read the official portal: pre-matric and Class 11-12 fresh applications around August to September, and fresh Dashmottar applications up to about 31 October 2026, with payment later in the year. Please check scholarship.up.gov.in for the current deadline and do not rely on a news report alone.

Common mistakes

  • Creating more than one OTR, which can cause problems.
  • Choosing the wrong scheme or class level.
  • Not submitting the printout and documents to the institute by its deadline, so the form never gets forwarded.
  • Mismatch between Aadhaar, marksheet and bank records, which is flagged as suspect data.
  • Bank account not in your own name or not Aadhaar-seeded.
  • Waiting for an extension instead of applying on time.

The UP scholarship process has two steps students often forget: submitting online and then giving the printout to the institute. Finish both well before the deadline, and use the status page regularly.
