ODI and Test squads
- Shubman Gill is listed as captain for the first three ODIs and both Tests, and Shreyas Iyer for the last two ODIs.
- As of the 19 October report, India’s ODI and Test squads and New Zealand’s Test squad had not been announced. A later listing dated 21 October refers to separate India ODI and Test squads, with Shubman Gill as Test captain and KL Rahul as vice-captain, but we did not verify the names, and New Zealand’s Test squad was still pending. Check the BCCI site.
- New Zealand’s ODI squads have been named, led by Mitchell Santner. Tom Latham is in the first three ODI group and Rachin Ravindra is also named there. Ravindra is reported out of the T20Is with a shoulder injury and may return for the ODIs.
Where to watch in India
Esquire India and a 21 October Yahoo Sports listing say the series is on the Sony Sports Network on TV and on SonyLIV for streaming across all three formats. A preview for the 2nd T20I also mentions DD Sports as a free-to-air option where available. Outlook India’s article mentions both Star Sports/JioHotstar and Sony in different places, so it is inconsistent. We trust the Sony listing more, but check the channel guide before match day.
What to know before you watch
- T20Is start in the afternoon IST, ODIs in the early morning and Tests in the middle of the night.
- Squads can change due to injuries, so check the toss-time XI.
- Result so far: India won the 1st T20I by 4 wickets (New Zealand 225/4, India 230/6 in 19.4 overs), with Sanju Samson named player of the match, per Cricinfo and India.com. We have not listed the 2nd T20I result because it was in progress when we checked.
Series at a glance
This is a long tour with all three formats, split into three blocks. The T20Is come first, then five ODIs in four venues, and finally two Tests in Wellington and Christchurch. Because New Zealand is about 7.5 hours ahead of India at this time of year (daylight saving), the Indian start times fall early in the morning for ODIs and overnight for Tests.
Squad notes
The India T20I squad has a young look, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav alongside Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav. New Zealand have named a 16-player T20I group with Mitchell Santner listed first. We have not seen a final playing XI for any match, so check the toss.
This is the verified India vs New Zealand 2026 schedule as of 24 October 2026. We will update it as the ODI and Test squads are announced.
